Venturing into the city, he becomes an observer of human nature, commenting on the human condition by watching people and by engaging in human activities, such as football and chess. He is never particularly critical of humans — instead, he draws on his own experiences as a hedgehog for comparison, which has the occasional side-effect of making him appear naïve.
